I have super ridiculously oily skin, there is absolutely no powder in the planet that is ever going to control it, but this little baby comes pretty close. It doesn’t add any colour or any extra coverage, it just mattes out my foundation and sets it beautifully and the great thing is that I can use it frequently throughout the day to blot and it doesn’t leave me looking horrifically cakey. The only downside is the price.

I hate expensive powders because I use so much of them that it seens such a waste but when my makeup looks fresh then it’s definitely worth it. My skin goes through phases with the seasons, i'm oily in summer and dry in winter. This product looks and applies fantastic on my skin when i'm both.

It also has a great colour range, my darker shade works well for me in summer while my lighter can be used under my eyes to brighten the area. This lighter shade then works well all over the face in summer when the tan fades!

It's also great for touch ups during the day without looking cakey. I can build this product up to 'bake' my under eye area also, and it works really well. I have never heard much hype about this product but it is amazing!! I used to have oily skin, but it is now pretty dry. It worked for me then and still works for me now. I use it to set my makeup and NEVER have to do touch-ups. When my skin was oily, I even then never had to touch up which is something I never experienced with another product.

This powder also gives no flash-back in phots which is a major plus. For oily skin, I would recommend applying with the puff that comes with it or another type of puff/sponge. For more normal/dry skin, I would recommend applying a light layer with a brush to the t-zone. I used this product many years ago, I was introduced to it at make-up school as a backstage staple for oily t-zones on models. Recently though, I was finding my regular powder foundation wasn't cutting it for me. My mid day touch ups were ending up a powdery, blotchy mess! So I popped down to MAC to see if they could offer me something and voila!

How had I forgotten about blot powder? I use a mineral setting powder when applying my make up in the morning, so I keep my blot powder compact in my bag for touching up throughout the day. I apply it with the supplied sponge and it absorbs excess oil and mattifies my skin without adding any weight or colour. Blot powder comes in a signature MAC black compact, and has a mirror inside which is handy for touch ups on the go. I bought this for a photo shoot via reccomendation from a friend as I was searching for something to help my makeup stay put but without making my face too matte.

I've tried many powders before this, but they all just clung to any dry patch of skin on my face and made my skin look terrible after about 10 minutes. Applied over foundation this powder makes your skin look flawless, evens everything out and keeps oil at bay, even in 38 degree heat and humidity. I bought the Dark shade and I range between Mac NC37-42.

I am THE oiliest person on this planet. No competition. I have been forever looking for something (anything really) to keep me matte when I'm at an event or at work when I can't constantly touch up or use blotting paper.

After a lot of research I came across the MAC blot powder and although it is quite expensive for a powder, nothing else was working for me. I bought it and have been enjoying it since. There are a few shades, which was pretty awesome since I don't like translucent ones, they make me look ghostly even though they say they won't. A tip though, go darker than the shade you think you are because it applies a bit lighter. I tried it with both the sponge that came with it and with a fluffy powder brush. The sponge gave a more heavy application while with the brush it was very light and barely noticeable.

I have noticed that when I apply with the sponge, since it is heavier, my face remains matte for a bit longer than it does with the brush. I apply this by itself or over foundation and I love the way it sort of blurs my pores as well.

It keeps me matte for about 3 to 4 hours which for me is great since I get oily within the hour of applying my makeup usually. The best thing about this powder for me was the fact that it did not break me out. I am still experimenting but I do believe I will be repurchasing this powder. I find this powder to be really great for touch ups as it doesn't make my foundation cakey no matter how much you apply. Also, since it's in pressed form, it's not messy and you can bring it along in your handbag. I hate having to carry a large clutch/bag when I go out so I avoid bringing loose powders with me at all costs.
