I am also having the exact same problem for pc. I go in game, click on open resource pack folder and an error pops up saying there is no resource pack folder. I go into.minecraft and its no where to be found in any folders.

Other fishy thing is the texture packs are not in a folder at all like they usually are. I even deleted all the game files and started from scatch and nothin. I literally bought this new laptop yesterday and am running minecraft 1.8 version on windows 8. Any help as soon as possible would be awsome thnx.
