I have tried as you said, on the server “shared folders -> open files” there are no trace of the file I have tried to open. I have checked the permissions and they are set for “Domain users” to modify. There is no “deny” permissions. I have took the ownership of the file and I’m member of “Domain users”.

The share permissions are configured to “change” and the folder itself has “modify” permissions for “Domain users”. I have checked if there is any hidden office file (word or excel) and no results. The problem is happening when I double click to open an office document but when I “right click” on the file and then choose “open” the file is opened without errors and I can modify it and save it. Well for me, I figure out that the McAfee Agent was causing the error. My company uses McAfee AV and McAfee Agent, we programed the Agent to find update with our own server.

I had to re program the Agent to find it using the McAfee servers. We use McAfee agent here as well. Except we use it everywhere, same version.

I have 8.8 installed on both Win 7 and Win XP boxes, and again, the behavior only follows the Win 7 boxes. I will look into McAfee as a possible culprit anyway. Thanks for the tip. I'll uninstall it and see if I get the same behavior.
