The following has also been posted to AskToad in the FAQ: Getting Started area. The Toad QA team has been testing Toad for Oracle on two virtual PC software applications for the Macintosh computer. We are happy to announce that we can officially certify Toad for Oracle on Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion for MAC with just a few caveats. Toad for Oracle v. 9.7 was tested with: * Parallels Desktop version 3.0 * VMWare Fusion version 2.0 While Toad works well on both of these platforms, the following issues were discovered: On Parallels Desktop Only * Regular FTP Connection - does not connect from within Toad, but does connect from the command line. This is a Toad component issue, and will be remedied in coming releases of Toad. * Auto-detect paths for Oracle utilities (Options > executables) - does not detect paths.

I bought my first Apple computer in 2001. It was a 733 MHz Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver) with a 40GB hard drive and a whopping 32 MEGABYTES of video RAM. I still vividly remember unboxing it and editing my first video in Final Cut Pro 3. Since then, I've personally used hundreds of Apple computers and owned 12 different Apple desktops and laptops. I use macOS and Windows daily, and feel there's very little the choose between them in most cases, other than a different approach. The Windows 7 machine I use at work is just as stable as the MacBook or iMac I use at home, and whilst my preference is still macOS, it wouldn't be a problem to switch either way. Why Anyone out there is interested in the looks of their computers- Windows delivers here. Mac not so much. Windows 7 has beefy looks, a clean interface, uncluttered look and a lot of familiar controls. Why I left Mac for Windows: Apple has given up Update: For those joining in late 2017, I've been hunting for a laptop with limited success. Read on for what I've settled on, or discuss on HN. It's like they don't even try. After a lifetime of looking down at Windows users, most Mac users go into Windows looking for reasons to validate the way they already feel towards it (irrational hatred) and don't allow themselves to like anything about it.

However, you can still browse for the correct location. On Both Platforms * JDWP Debugger - does not debug on either platform. The error 'Canvas does not allow drawing' is displayed. This appears to be an issue with how Java is integrated on the virtual platform. * RExec (from Network Utilities) - does not connect. This appears to be a platform specific issue, as RExec cannot be called from the command line either.

* Unix Monitor - takes you through the FTP connection screen as usual, but the connection status never displays, and the graphs do not populate. I've been using toad on vmware for the past year and have been really happy with it. Have these issues been communicated to vmware? I blogged on this some time ago:) ________________________________ From: [mailto:] On Behalf Of Gretchen Mueller Sent: Friday, November 21, 2008 12:49 PM To:; Subject: [toadbeta] You can use Toad for Oracle on a Mac -- The following has also been posted to AskToad in the FAQ: Getting Started area.
